The current of the capacitor is obviously too large, except for the high operating voltage, the reasons are as follows:


(1) The capacitor bank is not designed and evaluated according to the system harmonic background before installation.


      The selected series reactor parameters do not act to suppress harmonics.


(2) Changes in harmonics during operation, no monitoring and control, harmonic current amplification.


(3) The capacitor bank is out of operation.


(4) A short circuit occurs in the series reactor.


The solution is as follows:


(1) Before installing the capacitor bank, measure the harmonic background of the capacitor access point (substation) and collect the load harmonics. Through design argumentation and calculation, as the basis for selecting the parameters of the series reactor, for example, the selective reactance rate of suppressing the harmonics of 5 times or more is 5% and 6%, and the selective reactance rate of suppressing the harmonics of 3 or more times is 12%.


(2) According to the pre-test condition of the capacitor, the capacitor group parameters and the reactor parameters should be accounted for to prevent resonance, especially after the capacitor is damaged, and the collective capacitor and the internal fuse capacitor should be paid more attention. After the fuse action, the capacitance value decreases and the capacitive reactance increases.


(3) Replenish capacitors in time.
